dude
custom built electric bikes are no joke
And really
If you ever think about getting an ebike
build it yourself
(edited)
otherwise you're stuck with a measely 250w or 750w depending on where you live
The real fun begins at 2kW and up
Where it'll just try and flip you over when you give it full throttle from a standstill
speaking of ebikes, I'm thinking about getting a cycle analyst so I can have a power throttle instead of a speed throttle
what does this mean? Normally you tell the controller what speed (rpm) you want the motor to spin at with the throttle
Now, with a power/amp/torque throttle, it's more IC vehicle like, where you tell it what power you want to go to the motor. It's a PID feedback loop, where it keeps checking what the current power draw is and adjust the speed setting according to that.
By adjusting the speed setting, it also changes the power draw.
Oh also to get in the 2-4kW range, you literally just have to order a prespoked motor+programmable controller with enough MOSFETs+throttle kit and buy some LiPo batteries from hobbyking.
Then get a few XT60/XT90/PowerPole/whatever connectors and a couple feet of decent gauge wire
The only soldering you have to do is the battery pack. Or rather, a connection harness for the battery pack.
Oh, and don't forget the lipo charger.
Also at that power, you might aswell just disregard weight and get a downhill frame
With decent long travel shocks and just jump EVERYTHING.
