We're getting closer to The Sacrifice, I feel like I'm slowly becoming more able to piece together what it will contain, and enough of us play this for us to have this channel temporarily for speculation and then post-release spoilers for a while
Any lore hounds wondering what those fancy scribbles in the latest Warframe launch page mean? Got you covered! https://t.co/4Q4wHKsBPG @PlayWarframe

someone translated some of the orokin script related to the sacrifice stuff
Seems like they're delivering hard on the idea of a quest that explains the nature of the warframes themselves
we've gotten more and more confirmation that they've basically got some kind of benign infestation serving as their internals
mentions of helminth further confirms that he's likely our landing craft's room for repairing/maintaining the frames (in addition to the in-game function of removing the infested cyst)
apparently elsewhere there's also mentions of a "subject 9"
I wouldn't be surprised if they tied in the OOOOOOLD lore entries about what seemed to be feral warframes
and the subject was one of them
either wild animals, a form of naturally occuring infestation (perhaps the type used in warframes came first, and the weaponized form came later?), or something of the sort that was then "domesticated" and turned into a vessel for transference
also some people on the post for this speculated maybe helminth will be what helps us to create umbra - a frame that is purely of tenno design, kind of in line with what I was saying before where I thought maybe the man in the wall would help us create it
I feel decently content that this will be necessitated because the frames of orokin origin will be somehow rendered useless or against us by Ballas' command, as he did engineer them originally
this niggy doin' some wild speculating:
I do think that the oro/void dichotomy will have to be confronted either in this quest or the next one (if it's not within the scope of this one) because of all that'll happen with Ballas and the whole Man in the Wall thing
Considering that the translations of the load screen "glitch" thingy read as such:
We know some things can disrupt the link to a warframe - and even in TWW we saw the Queens able to do this with the Kuva scepter, so I imagine Ballas who created the Warframes and was presumably a higher-tier Orokin official than they were can to more powerful things
lol the thread for those translations slightly predated TSD apparently
first two guys were really getting dead on with their speculation, second guy comes in like a big dumb faggot and gets it all wrong

I hope she returns in some distant quest
For now it's like I think she's just alive to be the personality associated with the Kuva siphon missions

DE abandoning random plot points? never
Prude 08-Jun-18 11:36 AM
I feel like they've mostly not been too bad about it
like it seems a lot of stuff comes back around in some way, eventually, but the cinematic quest cycle is a slow moving one
That is to say, a lot of the really early lore groundwork is being expanded upon now it seems
Bear in the Woods 08-Jun-18 11:47 AM
Yeah I'm sure the sacrifice will be a success either way, with how much DE is putting into it
I kinda don't want to speculate on it just to go into it blind

"Red lights flashing on stark, white walls. Davis is running ahead of me, dropping his notes. We're running for our lives. The fear gives me a strange perspective - I'm out of my body. I've forgotten how I got here. I don't recognize this place. Davis and I slam pinned against a cell door and he shouts at me. I give him a dumb look. I can't hear him, the sirens, anything, only the muffled throb of terror in my head. I turn away from Davis down the hall and I see it. The hulking mass, flickering red, glinting like steel and fresh blood. Its skin changes, flowing like mercury when I'm blinded by the sudden muzzle-flashes. They do no good. The beast surges forward and the security men become crimson mist and gore. I'm a statue, a cornered animal. A gate opens inside me and recognition floods in. I have seen this monster before. I have cut its shell and eviscerated its brothers. I have given it pain and measured its response. I have crafted then rejected countless like it. But I've never seen this beast so close, without the shield, without restraints. I have never seen it... free. I know I will die so I just watch with curious acceptance. The beast squats down, shoveling a heap of gore into its mouth. It is watching me with vague eyes, a sense of recognition, ancestral memory. It knows who I am and what I've done. It rears up like a bear and roars, shattering the lights and casting us into darkness. I can hear it lumbering toward me, its metal fingers rending the walls, but I know I am dead. I close my eyes and stand ready to pay. "
"I feel the pull on my arm and realize Davis got the cell open. He tugs me into the cell beyond and I fall on my back. I see Davis standing at the open door, waiting, as the monster tears towards us. Suddenly I could live through this I shout, "Davis, close the goddamn door!" - But he shakes his head eyes wide as moons. He shouts, "Watch!" over the roaring and rending of metal. Then silence. Davis is panting, laughing? The beast fills the doorway, inches from him, dripping in blood, but still without violence. It stands there, looking at its hands. Davis whispers, "No one would have believed me." I crawl up the wall to stand, opposite the door. I've never seen this cell, a cold place with an array of shelves. A morgue? "Where are we, Davis?" "This is where they keep them. The ones from Zariman." I'm thrown, what was the Zariman? The ship that never returned? "Davis, what's going on?" Davis turns to me, a smile forming - "What's going on is..." he turns back to the beast now silent and calm. "...big, fat promotions.""
The ooooold Rhino Prime lore entry
one of those initial hints at the lore
just realized what the primordial Rhino does here
he looks at his hands after getting close to the Tenno
It's been a theme in the story that when something is affected by transference or wondering if it's subject to transference (like both yourself and the Stalker at the height of The Second Dream), they're looking at their hands
this had to have been the first moment that they realized they could use the Tenno in this way
Based on the initial part of this, it sounds like they were actually producing the initial warframes before they became the warframes
maybe a kind of armored infested unit
but then they realized they could only be of proper use in conjunction with the tenno here
Bear in the Woods 09-Jun-18 07:32 PM
My guess for all this is we: 1. Run into Ballas because he has Spacemom and we got a peep on where he is 2. Get turbofucked by him because he has a Warfram Killswitch 3. Figure out a solution to stop the Killswitch, learning How It's Made: Warframes 4. Team up with Helminth to make Umbra Excal, a frame built outside Ballas' control 5. Kick Ballas in the dick and save Spacemom
And then we all go home for ice cream and rivens
Prude 09-Jun-18 07:33 PM
Yeah that's about what I'd expect now
Bear in the Woods 09-Jun-18 07:34 PM
Though I'd like to be 100% wrong, because that seems similar to TWW
Prude 09-Jun-18 07:34 PM
If the quest is any larger than that, I'd expect an injection of The Man in the Wall, but I think it'd make the scope too big and I'd imagine that'd be our next mainline cinematic quest instead
Bear in the Woods 09-Jun-18 07:34 PM
Big scope wouldn't be too surprising, this has been in the works for a while
Prude 09-Jun-18 07:34 PM
Narratively I'd like some kind of multi-sided power struggle here
especially if the sentients somehow become involved too, especially considering Spacemom herself is a sentient
That'd be new for the questline narratives (edited)
Bear in the Woods 09-Jun-18 07:36 PM
I'm just curious on what new mechanic they'll be adding in considering the precedent from previous big updates/quests
Prude 09-Jun-18 07:36 PM
Ballas would be a good enemy for them due to that whole history, and if he had a hand in the warframes, I'd not be surprised if he had a hand in the creation of the sentients
Wouldn't be surprised if it was something like giving your warframes themselves some new customization options
Since I think it'd be dumb to have more than one umbra, after Ballas is done with or whatever, maybe there'd be a sort of focus-like customization for each frame that lets you sort of specialize them more
Bear in the Woods 09-Jun-18 07:39 PM
Yeah that's what I was thinking, a bonus/malus system they'd implement somehow or a way to 'Umbra' your other frames
But then everyone would just pick the FOTM spec and be done
Prude 09-Jun-18 07:41 PM
I was thinking maybe some divergent Oro/Void kind of thing, like specializing in Oro would make them just improved upon their base functionality as orokin creations, while maybe Void would somehow alter things a bit, if we assume Umbra is somehow associated with our void connection as well
I think warframes are a place where diversity will work out
since people already use all kinds of different frames based on preference and most frames have a few possible builds people might use
I think not everyone would use the same thing for the new system
Bear in the Woods 09-Jun-18 07:42 PM
Maybe even a third Helminth branch
Prude 09-Jun-18 07:42 PM
Or maybe that sentient arm thing does come back in this quest
and there's like body augments for the frames now
Bear in the Woods 09-Jun-18 07:43 PM
I'd be down
But will we need a base Excal to make Umbra?
Prude 09-Jun-18 07:45 PM
I do have mine still - but I'd imagine it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense for that to be the case if the base warframes are rendered useless by Ballas
I also feel like the whole "The Sacrifice" thing has been made out to be a sacrifice we ourselves aren't making
So I can only assume then Ballas/Lotus or some other party will be doing the sacrificing if that notion ends up true
Bear in the Woods 09-Jun-18 07:45 PM
@Prophet616007 No
Prude 09-Jun-18 07:46 PM
I'm guessing excal is just the choice umbra frame because excal is fucking cool and iconic
and also I think in the lore he might've been the first one finished?
Bear in the Woods 09-Jun-18 07:46 PM
And maybe the 'canon' frame yeah
Prude 09-Jun-18 07:52 PM
I definitely feel that after this and the whole Man in the Wall situations are resolved, we'll have answers to most things in the established lore and they'll have been then started with new narrative leads
eventually I think the hungering for the Tau system or w/e will return
I think they could do a lot of interesting shit with a more fleshed out sentient faction anyhow
surely hunhow and natah aren't the only ones with robust personalities, and surely there's any number of "forms" we have not seen (or cannot remember)
and maybe some other race too if they did bring in a whole new kind of "endgame starchart" or something
allies or enemies of the sentient in their own "home" system
Taylor Swift 09-Jun-18 08:02 PM
Man in the wall?
Prude 09-Jun-18 08:02 PM
its a spoiler I don't think you've encountered yet!!!!
I think you've done War Within, so it'd be the next "main" quest you have left to do if I'm right about that
which would be Chains of Harrow
Bear in the Woods 09-Jun-18 08:16 PM
I would totally dig a new system to fight/loot/kill in. let's them do designs that could be more alien than what we have now
Prude 09-Jun-18 08:17 PM
I think it would allow a lot of new creative freedom that wouldn't need to be very strongly tied to the existing content
their ideas have obviously shifted a lot since this started
Bear in the Woods 09-Jun-18 08:19 PM
Some extrasolar enemies (even more sentients) would be cool
Prude 11-Jun-18 06:00 PM
btw "Howl all you want, it won't bring him back" is what Ballas says in this e3 trailer
it looks like the shit he was saying on the site before was presumably also aimed at Umbra then?
So my theory is shifting to Umbra being a Warframe that gained sentience a la the theories about Stalker
which means Stalker may end up being something else entirely, unless they're gonna be compared in the quest as possible outcomes
and then one can presume given the dialogue, their operator is dead or something
Prude 11-Jun-18 06:10 PM
oh shit this dude has a point
the voice in the trailer DOES sound more like Hunhow than Ballas
and it being spoken during a scene of Ballas may mean Ballas is "him" as this guy says
very interesting
I wonder if this is pre-Octavia's anthem flashback stuff we'll get in-quest, or if Hunhow did in part persist to mock Umbra/Ballas and maybe that provoked his move on Natah?
THE PLOT IS THICKENING IF TRUE
also their voices being somewhat alike, I would not be surprised if Hunhow was perhaps somehow modeled on Ballas even
Prude 11-Jun-18 06:20 PM
"A vengeful force has been unleashed...Umbra approaches, Tenno." from the corresponding twitter post for the trailer
that's kind of a clue - Umbra has something to be vengeful about
so he's probably not something we're creating new as a kind of countermeasure as I had speculated
Bear in the Woods 11-Jun-18 06:37 PM
Maybe it lost it's Tenno and is cut off from Lua, hence the Umbra moniker
Prude 11-Jun-18 06:37 PM
yeah that's what i was saying before the screenshot
Bear in the Woods 11-Jun-18 07:44 PM
Also a cool thing is that Umbra looks at his hands in the trailer like you had talked about before
Bear in the Woods 11-Jun-18 11:48 PM
I'm starting to wonder if we'll get Spacemom back during all of this or if that'll be saved for another quest
Prude 12-Jun-18 09:02 AM
i'd be cool with this being a thing
Prude 13-Jun-18 01:24 PM
hail mary: operator dies!!!!

Bear in the Woods 13-Jun-18 01:46 PM

Prude 14-Jun-18 09:44 PM

Ballas is a fucking good character
Real slow burn over these years developing him
eyepop
Operator being a badass
Damn this got trippy
Taylor Swift 14-Jun-18 09:50 PM
Fuck the mission where you have to damage him using your operator is hard
Because he instagibs your operator
Prude 14-Jun-18 09:52 PM
Ah, yeah with an unupgraded op it would be way harder
Ooooohhhhh
So uh
That's how umbra is different
I'll let y'all find this one out yourselves
Also just a reminder for y'all that against the sentients, operator attacks will reset their damage resistance
Cause otherwise all the sentients fights could get frustrating
Soundtrack on point
Oh shit
New mods eyepop
Quest doesn't say it, but i think from these mods, I can infer going to Tau is down the line
I still have at least one mission left, but I'm doing umbra's loadout and need to eat!!!
Taylor Swift 14-Jun-18 10:07 PM
This mission is dumb
Prude 14-Jun-18 10:08 PM
The operator one?
Taylor Swift 14-Jun-18 10:08 PM
Yeah
His little stupid ground stab thing has stupid range
And instakills me
Prude 14-Jun-18 10:10 PM
Ah
I dunno if it helps, but he doesn't need to fully die - you just need to take down his shield and then do the e void blast
And then do transference again
I didn't realize the first few missions that i didn't need to take down all his health first
Taylor Swift 14-Jun-18 10:12 PM
I have to deplete his shields first
Which is taking forever
Because he just instagibs me
Every time
Prude 14-Jun-18 10:12 PM
They'll probably need to tune that mission down a lot
Taylor Swift 14-Jun-18 10:12 PM
Then I have to kite him until transference bullshit is done
Prude 14-Jun-18 10:12 PM
It's fucked up for anyone not deep into eidolon progression

Fucked up
I'm not there yet even, i'll let you know if I experience the same
You can check that reddit bug thread as well
Yeah I just killed all the sentients and not much is happening
ok here we go
might have to abandon and try some of this
i def had exalted blade out at the end
i'll relink the whole thread in case anything else comes up
using just operator in that fight doesn't seem bad anyways
just give umbra all your best guns and deck him out before going to that mission
and he'll put in work while you reset sentient resistances with op
getin
also if you see the mods on the frame itself, that's why i think tau may be confirmed
why introduce these kinds of things unless we're specifically getting some kind of tau/sentient-heavy content
Taylor Swift 14-Jun-18 10:40 PM
Mommy... negative
Prude 14-Jun-18 10:44 PM
holy fucking shit
i just saw that
Taylor Swift 14-Jun-18 10:44 PM

reeeeeza
Prude 14-Jun-18 10:46 PM

so i guess uh
in terms of anticipation
this is to, uh
go even further beyond?
if those mods weren't confirmation, those last moments sure as shit were
we're fucking going to Tau baby!!!!!!
Taylor Swift 14-Jun-18 10:47 PM
I mean
We talked about that years past I believe
That possibility
And how it would end up being more or less an expansion to the game

I mean I suppose she always was in spirit that thing, but the old visage was a bit more... appealing
eidolon bodies don't get me going the same way thicc asses do!!!!
so I think that's where the quest subverted my expectations most
I expected it to go deeper into his relationship with marghulis after the revelation that he betrayed the orokin and collaborated with hunhow because of what they did to her
and then that would lead to us rescuing her/finding her dead/getting a "your mom is in another castle" type situation
didn't expect him to be the bitch bad guy leading us to her and apparently her mom (so, uh, our space grandmother???) as the real big bads to come

Whats the Jade Light

Prologue and this quest
Its some form of execution
Prude 14-Jun-18 10:54 PM
ah
I'm not sure then, presumably some orokin bullshit?
Here's the real question
who was the fucking sacrifice anyways?
was it the dax soldier who became umbra
or was it lotus to bring back natah?
Taylor Swift 14-Jun-18 10:55 PM
Both
Prude 14-Jun-18 10:55 PM
Yeah I guess a double meaning is all good
per what alex was saying in main chat right now
it felt somewhere between second dream and war within
more dedicated assets and shit than second dream, less than war within
but more significant revelations than war within, though maybe less than the mind-blow of the second dream
I think it was really good and necessary for pivoting the game
though, I think in terms of pure writing
it may have had the best
none of the dialogue felt hammy or whatever
Ballas was built up to be a really good villain for his relatively short existence as an actual part of the game (given, we did have the previous quests' voice echoes and all the primed frame trailer voiceovers to help build his identity)
I guess all the words that came up in the translated teaser text were addresses
subject 9 was probably umbra, helminth and sentients got their time
I think my largest question right now is
what motive did Ballas actually have
he got his end out of teaming up with the sentients - he got payback for the execution of marghulis and the general way the orokin had gone astray, which you could see he sort of had some disdain for despite being a product of it
He probably could've fucked off to do whatever after that
he clearly didn't bring marghulis back by taking lotus away
because he converted her back to natah instead basically
One wonders why he really gives a shit anymore with the orokin pretty much long dead and everything chill
I suppose along with hunhow, maybe there was some interest in resolving the loose ends that were the tenno
and maybe it was all a trap to get a chance at that
I suppose the point being sort of stressed in the quest that the tenno + frame combo being sort of something that can harm both ballas and the sentients
so that would make sense to try and take care of it before it becomes a problem for them
Taylor Swift 14-Jun-18 11:05 PM
Does he hate the Tenno by association?
Prude 14-Jun-18 11:05 PM
The tenno are in a strange place
because we were clearly very useful to both sides
though the chronology is a bit different now
originally the story kinda felt like the tenno, controlling the warframes, helped get their previous fuck ups (the sentient rebellion, rampant infestation, and maybe even the grineer rebellion) under control, and then when things were looking up, natah (around the time she became lotus) struck with her influence over the tenno to sort of assassinate the top orokin and cause the empire to collapse
but this quest kinda made it sound like the sentient were, chronologically, the first major orokin failure - as Ballas described, because they knew the orokin would basically ruin Tau in due time too
so they rebelled
and then the quest makes it sound like the infestation in general actually did do some work in stopping the sentient invasion or whatever
rather than failing wholly
but then they wanted a more controlled version of the infestation to up their game, and started the program of infesting dax
Taylor Swift 14-Jun-18 11:09 PM
Contro
Sentients good guys?
Prude 14-Jun-18 11:10 PM
which seemed solid at first, until they proved more unpredictable than they initially did?
so that's when the conveniently on-ice zariman tenno were brought out (I liked the nod to philosophical dualism there)
I'm guessing then it plays out like the lore originally seemed - they bring further success to the orokin war effort, before Natah who had infiltrated the orokin does her thing and has the tenno fuck them up
I'm wondering where in the timespan of all this marghulis was killed/the first tenno transference done
because in the titania quest, you learn marghulis was like some kind of botanist on earth before dealing with the tenno
and the implication in this quest is the forest-worlds and shit arose in the wake of the infestation sort of pushing the sentients back or whatever
and then to clean out the infestation on earth specifically, I think saryn prime was designed per her prime trailer
so that had to have happened relatively shortly after the first tenno + frame combo happened or something
but yeah it's weird because the sentients are on principle probably the good guys like you said
they saw the orokin's issues and didn't want it to fuck up other stuff
the orokin were clearly very amoral themselves because they did have to know what ballas was doing (even if it was ultimately for the purpose of fucking with them)
and there were many other such instances of them being sketchy
like how there was definitely some conspiracy to cover up the zariman incident and so forth
I'm guessing maybe marghulis was executed even because she had taken them out of cryosleep first and they didn't like that, but then they came around on it because of how useful they were to controlling the frames
that's sort of what i recall from TSD
what's also weird to me is how even as early as the scenes we see in flashbacks, with Ballas speaking to pre-umbra umbra, he's acknowledging he had partaken in some kind of betrayal
yet nothing had really happened yet because those were clearly the earliest days of the frames
I'm thinking the dax, who by merit of his son's comments was actually relatively cunning himself, had somehow pieced together the cooperation between Ballas and the sentients, but then was incapacitated for the whole infestation thing as retribution by Ballas before the secret got out
and that's why Ballas was so spiteful towards him - he came the closest to stopping him before we did, and he wasn't going to have his revenge against the orokin ruined
I hope umbra remains the only actual umbra, because I think thematically it doesn't make sense for every frame to have one like some people wanted
I think it works best as our pity "excal prime" in terms of gameplay + being unique for being the "primordial" warframe we found for the quest, of which I doubt there could really be any for every other frame since many had to have been produced WAY later
the umbra mods are cool though, just as a new kind of theme/polarity
oh cool, umbra can use any excal skin/helmet as well while retaining the scarf
Taylor Swift 14-Jun-18 11:28 PM
So why does Ballas look like that
Since the other Orokin didnt
Prude 14-Jun-18 11:29 PM
I think Ballas was like very upper class within their society, and the whole weird skin/clothing/long right arm thing was sort of emblematic of their degenerate aesthetic sense
Taylor Swift 14-Jun-18 11:29 PM
Were frames sent to Tau?
Prude 14-Jun-18 11:29 PM
while the dax soldiers like teshin, umbra pre-infestation, or his son were basically just probably genetically modified basic humans who ended up being their "elite" soldiers prior to the frames
so I don't think they had many non-functional modifications
an interesting note is ancient infested also have disproportionate right arms
which suggests if orokin nobles got infested normally, they became the ancients
and I don't think anything passed back through to tau, or at least the lore hasn't suggested it
if lotus/natah goes back (and we follow) I think it'd be the first time that it's known to happen
obviously sentients have come here back from Tau, but the trip apparently requires dealing with the void to some capacity which renders them sterile and shit
thus the whole story of her becoming lotus via proxy motherly instinct in the first place
the music for this quest was really menacing
I'm gonna have to watch one of the edited down versions of the quest in the next few days and see what I missed in the cutscenes/dialogue, there's probably some more to be learned if I'm not concerned with the gameplay part
Prude 14-Jun-18 11:46 PM
the statline on this new katana is pretty good
great status, slash focused, enough crit to justify blood rush
"TEAM LOTUS IS BLASTING OFF AGAINNNNN!" oh god lmao
Prude 15-Jun-18 12:00 AM
the REAL sacrifice is all the ways I may have to use more forma because of the new mods neg
these new mods, especially the warframe ones (the melee ones, good but less so relative to the existing melee mods) are fucking insane when ranked up
totally outdo the existing armor/health/strength mods
oh I see
they're also only that good because one is using all 3
a la carte they're weaker
but still, I use health/armor/strength on like every other warframe sooooo
Prude 15-Jun-18 12:09 AM
real tho when the wrath/emptiness/whatever prompt came up
real niggas chose wrath
Taylor Swift 15-Jun-18 12:13 AM
>not choosing acceptance
Pleb tier
Prude 15-Jun-18 12:13 AM
look
when i get a choice of big dick, emo, and pussy shit
i'm going big dick
Taylor Swift 15-Jun-18 12:14 AM
Acceptance is the only option that leads to healing
Faggot
Prude 15-Jun-18 12:15 AM
yeah but tbf this dude stole my spacemom and fucked this other dude's life up pretty bad
so we were finna stomp a niggy
getting over it comes after you put a nigga in the ground
Taylor Swift 15-Jun-18 12:15 AM
!brainlet
YinBot BOT 15-Jun-18 12:15 AM
Prude 15-Jun-18 12:32 AM
i was actually pretty impressed that there was basically only one bug in the quest
that soon after launch
and not ultimately one that was very serious
real talk, if lotus is doing a heel turn
I think there's real potential for the man in the wall to actually be an ally
sure, he's a manifestation of the void's madness or whatever the fuck, but that is what made us what we are
and perhaps it is more loyal to us than anything else, if we can understand it
also the void is inherently hostile to the sentient
by merit of them suffering issues when around it (infertility in the lore, vulnerability in the mechanics)
i mean there's no reason why a being that can apparently manifest in our fucking safe space at will to say hi wouldn't kill us if it wanted to kill us
I'd also speculate the gap between sacrifice and the next main quest will be a lot shorter than the gap between TWW and sacrifice
given that it's been a recurring trend that they've hinted at a bunch of systems being co-developed with this quest (and not just venus or the melee rework, which are the biggest other things on the table)
and the ending of this quest is the most obvious breadcrumb to something we've long predicted in the game
and that arguably being left hanging on the end of this quest is going to be more grueling than being left hanging on the prologue
Prude 15-Jun-18 12:57 AM
so far the ways umbra differ seem to mostly be: prime-like higher stats over base, the 2 being slower and having the function of resetting sentient resistances like the operator, and even outside of the quest he'll function like a specter while you're in operator mode
Prude 15-Jun-18 01:06 AM
some guy saying finishers with umbra can make you invisible? might be bullshit but we'll see
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 01:06 AM
like stealth finishers?
Prude 15-Jun-18 01:06 AM
I'll have to test and see what kind if any
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 01:06 AM
yes
No shade, stealthy things and tigris/lato/umbratana
Also radial blind does the howl which is cool
Prude 15-Jun-18 01:11 AM
yeah
but like i was saying earlier, it is a slightly longer animation
but its effect does more so i guess it's fair
both in that it looks cool and also that being able to reset sentient resistance without operator is nice
will probably be nicer in the expected future content
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 01:12 AM
Oh does it reset the resistances? Didn't notice that
Prude 15-Jun-18 01:13 AM
yep!!
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 01:13 AM
Guess I should read more often
Prude 15-Jun-18 01:13 AM
seems like it still blinds per the original
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 01:13 AM
Yeah which opens them up to finishers
So you can stealth whenever
Prude 15-Jun-18 01:14 AM
yeah that's pretty nice
I think overall he's an upgrade over base excal in all these little ways
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 01:15 AM
So I didn't miss Tau sorties or anything right? They'll probably reveal that at Tennocon
Prude 15-Jun-18 01:16 AM
yeah nothing like that
but yeah i'm with you on this quest being a clever prelude to the tennocon news
which will probably reveal the big shit we don't yet know about
since we know there's more than venus/melee rework in their plans
anyways, umbra being perfectly forma'd for the new set mods is great
they make his better base stats more significant as well
and they're fucking crazy in a set when a warframe can use all 3
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 01:19 AM
I was hoping we'd get lotus back or at least a new mission handler other than glitch-lotus
I can make my rhino prime even stronker now
Prude 15-Jun-18 01:20 AM
that's why I'm saying either the man in the wall ends up being more benevolent than we'd expected to be a new ally with all the shit going down, or hopefully teshin/simaris/whatever steps in outside of their little niche appearances
fucking give helminth an upgrade so he has a presence outside the room or something, fuck it
just ordis and glitchy false mom will get old!!!!!!!
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 01:22 AM
Ive had glitchmom since she came out, I want to switch
Sounds like you can't polarize Tau mods (at least not yet) so other frames will be harder to fit those mods
Prude 15-Jun-18 01:23 AM
i'm guessing the umbra polarity will just be expanded upon over time to be a full suite or something, but until then yeah I'm not gonna forma around them
if they fit, that's nice, but since they're basically primed mods that won't be easy
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 01:24 AM
Umbra Forma alex
Prude 15-Jun-18 01:24 AM
already have to forma all the new exalted weps and shit neg
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 01:25 AM
I was hoping they'd toss us a few free forma for those
Prude 15-Jun-18 01:25 AM
they did seem to give them all like 3 existing polarities or something so it's better than the average weapon for sure
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 01:25 AM
At least I have my oldfriend code to use still (I laughed when that was in the quest)
Prude 15-Jun-18 01:26 AM
but still, not enough esp. when considering the loss of bonus stance mod points
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 01:28 AM
That's an extra forma in difference probably
Prude 15-Jun-18 01:35 AM
it's nice, even things like chromatic blade are reflected in exalted blade's sheet stats now
so there's no guesswork (or just basic math as was the case) required
brozime is on the level of whining about lack of a new system but tbh i don't mind a lack of a new system right now - they're alluding to huge shit down the line and I sort of am still in the phase of my "endgame" being fully filling out the focus trees and getting all my primed mods fully leveled
something huge that is hard to ignore right now would be a big burden!!!!
Prude 15-Jun-18 02:42 AM
"On testing the Skiajati, I noticed this weapon also has a unique mechanic. Upon a sneak attack, the Skiajati will put you into stealth for a few seconds."
ah
the stealth mechanic is a function of the new katana
not umbra
that explains the inconsistencies i was seeing
well, that's pretty good for that katana though - it has a pretty solid statline already and a gimmick is what makes a low range weapon occasionally useful from that point
lmao
Mez 15-Jun-18 05:05 AM
finished it
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 08:56 AM
Dunno if it was mentioned but when you go into your operator in a mission the umbra will act on it's own like a specter would
Taylor Swift 15-Jun-18 10:08 AM
>male operator
Sad!
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 10:28 AM
>not using both the blindfold and the hood (edited)
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 11:06 AM
Here i ruin the quest for the memes or w/e DO NOT WATCH UNLESS YOU COMPLETED THE STORY YOURSELF OR DON'T CARE ABOUT THE PLOT
Prude 15-Jun-18 11:11 AM
Ya lol
It had been mentioned
Nothing gets past #1 warframe lore sperg!!!!
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 11:16 AM
It doesn't use ammo, so you can equip graks/exploding hikou for any operator funtimes
Prude 15-Jun-18 11:51 AM
this is probably the best of the free login screen color schemes!!!
Prude 15-Jun-18 02:06 PM
Tau is where the sentient went
originally
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 02:06 PM
Tau Ceti, they sent the sentients there to terraform but they came back
Prude 15-Jun-18 02:06 PM
the sentient rebelled, as per mentioned in the quest, because they knew the orokin would bring ruin to Tau as well
I think the implication was at that time, the empire was looking somewhat bad overall and they wanted expansion
and then as mentioned in the quest, a side effect of the infestation was some of the planets were actually revitalized
and then as things seemed to cool down, presumably because the infestation and early warframe projects were working to push the sentient back, so it seems things were looking up (edited)
and then the whole tenno killing the orokin under lotus' command thing happened
up until the second dream, the sentient were mostly just hanging out in Tau (presumably after their original "defeat") aside from Natah who had infiltrated the whole tenno command chain to become Lotus, and Hunhow who was presumably beaten at some point in the old days, resulting in him being entombed as he was during the Natah quest
so now what we can probably assume is the next big thing (aside from the venus open world) will be either Tau becomes its own "endgame" starchart, or some kind of sortie-type system that has us doing "excursions" in Tau is made
since between the new mods and Lotus basically saying she was going "home" or whatever, I can't see how the next major quest wouldn't take us there
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 02:14 PM
Gonna kick some Spacegrandma ass
Prude 15-Jun-18 02:14 PM
I'm not sure if he's permadead but it sure seems like we basically killed Hunhow with music so I mean
how imposing could his bitch REALLY be
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 02:15 PM
Those eidolons can be p.tough
Prude 15-Jun-18 02:15 PM
That's sort of what I want to see most - how like a full top-tier sentient looks
Lotus/Natah def took on the appearance of a kind of eidolon
but Hunhow was made out to be even larger than an eidolon I think, in his non-fractured form (edited)
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 02:16 PM
I wonder if bigboi sentients have human faces or just Lotus from her time as Margulis
Prude 15-Jun-18 02:18 PM
I feel like it'd make them better villains
hunhow worked as a faceless thing because we never really saw his actual form
the closest was a sort of fuzzy digital image in Octavia's anthem
I'm assuming Ballas is dead-dead but I sort of hope he was taken w/ Lotus and gets somehow sentient-ized or something
it'd help give him some additional motivation for his more recent actions, like say if he realized he couldn't really do anything to bring back marghulis, but could become akin to her replacement or something
and also I want to fuck him up again
and he's a good bad guy
Taylor Swift 15-Jun-18 04:00 PM
something to ponder on too
Is that the Tau system might have an entirely new set of Warframes
Like Umbra
Since Tau saw the first deployments
So we might get some Primal Forms
Prude 15-Jun-18 04:03 PM
that's possible
if they framed it like that, then I'd accept there being new umbras more
like if umbra wasn't the new "prime" but was rather just the unique line from Tau or whatever
Taylor Swift 15-Jun-18 04:03 PM
I dont think theyd be umbra
Prude 15-Jun-18 04:03 PM
and all the others were new designs entirely
Taylor Swift 15-Jun-18 04:04 PM
Umbra I think is a very special thing
And the name Umbra wouldnt make sense
Primal would make more sense because they are very early primal frames
But it also sounds too much like Prime so
Prude 15-Jun-18 04:04 PM
I guess maybe just not attaching any in-game name to it would be fine if they're all new frames anyways
doesn't really need a modifier then
Taylor Swift 15-Jun-18 04:05 PM
I dont think it will all be new frames
I think there will be the primal forms of some of the baser frames
Mag, Rhino, Excal
And Id bet the gimmick will be power sacrificed from shields/armor
Prude 15-Jun-18 04:05 PM
I think Tau will solve the problem of them running out of places to put new frames, though - since the regular star chart is out of bosses for the time being
granted the path of making new frames come from sidequests and stuff is fine too
also I'd hope if Tau is intended as an "endgame" or whatever, any new boss battles are more like eidolons and not the basic bitch regular star chart bosses (edited)
since there's the expectation anyone who is there is probably pretty deep in and has probably completed up the the sacrifice+ in the story (edited)
Taylor Swift 15-Jun-18 04:07 PM
Know what would be sick
If we gain the ability to create sentients
And have them as uh
Whats it called
The little robots that follow you
Prude 15-Jun-18 04:08 PM
sentinels?
Taylor Swift 15-Jun-18 04:08 PM
Yeah
Prude 15-Jun-18 04:08 PM
there's been some speculation that the sentinels are basically sentient offshoots as it were (or the newer grineer/corpus models are based on the tech)
Taylor Swift 15-Jun-18 04:08 PM
Or even more like Kubrows or something
Theres def going to be something come along that bypasses the Sentient mechanic though
I cant see planets and planets worth of battles doing that faggy weapon switching
Prude 15-Jun-18 04:09 PM
well operator mode does reset their resistances to 0
Taylor Swift 15-Jun-18 04:09 PM
Oh, maybe using a Sentient sentinal would override it
Steve, Im free for a job btw
Prude 15-Jun-18 04:10 PM
also umbra's 2 does the reset as well now
and it's only the conculysts/battlelysts that even have the mechanic thus far, other types of sentients like the eidolons and mimics have different special qualities
I could see conculysts/battlelysts remaining kind of their version of a unique/heavy unit
like grineer gunners/bombards or whatever
and the others being more simplistic
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 04:45 PM
I don't think so for now
Taylor Swift 15-Jun-18 04:46 PM
All the new stuff was plat
Its worth tho
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 04:46 PM
There's some stuff that are from the Twitch drops but that's exclusive to Twitch
They might use the 'Umbra' moniker as the anti-sentient variants; considering there's the Umbra polarity now
Get the blindfold too
They fit together when the hood is down
Taylor Swift 15-Jun-18 04:52 PM
Yall see the 2B thing Im going with my operator?
Prude 15-Jun-18 04:52 PM
i saw the screens yesterday
Taylor Swift 15-Jun-18 04:52 PM
I wanna get this scarf tho
Scarfs are kinda gay but good gay
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 04:59 PM
Edgeboi
Prude 15-Jun-18 05:00 PM
there will never be a reason to bring excal to eidolons in any form 🤷
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 05:00 PM
Not that great, there's a holy Trinity people use
Prude 15-Jun-18 05:00 PM
his skillset just doesn't suit it
basically the two things you bring to eidolons are ways to keep the lures/party alive, and ways to boost sniper damage
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 05:01 PM
And 🅱️olt to use the electric shield
Prude 15-Jun-18 05:01 PM
ah, yeah, I suppose that also boosts operator damage
same idea
the frames that seem most useful are basically trinity/harrow/oberon/rhino/chroma/volt in some combination
i don't worry too much about specifics
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 05:03 PM
Volt/Chroma/Trin/Oberon is a good combo
Prude 15-Jun-18 05:03 PM
but I think getting maybe two of those set up for eidolons makes a person flexible enough
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 05:04 PM
And a high crit sniper rifle
Prude 15-Jun-18 05:04 PM
I mean lanka may be "the best" but I like the handling on vectis p, and I'm sure rubico functions just fine as well (it's what rej started with there, anyhow)
and then the other thing is just getting people to carry you long enough to get your first decent amp if one doesn't have it yet
Prude 15-Jun-18 08:19 PM
inaros makes a lot of sense if one was to go out of the way to make them work elsewhere
yeah if he were to forma around those mods, he could probably fit a little bit more too
like yeah you can't forma for the mods specifically, but the rest of your build could be designed to accommodate them better
i think the issue is that most frames that benefit from stacking those three are already really powerful and good without them and so sacrificing for them is sort of a waste
and i don't know
I think finding out what exactly the goal with the umbra mods is will be part of whenever they go over their plans for tau or w/e
so hopefully it's a part of tennocon
in general, I'm picturing the end of this quest as kind of a mic drop leading into the tennocon hype
because no more major content updated until the con, no more devstreams
and we have every reason to expect tennocon will have lots of interesting reveals
so it's like they want it all bottled up for that
Prude 15-Jun-18 08:35 PM
this isn't supposed to happen thonk
he was of course in the nav room coming back from the last mission, but didn't vanish when i looked away
so i was able to bring my operator up to him
Taylor Swift 15-Jun-18 08:38 PM
Why does that happen sometimes
Prude 15-Jun-18 08:38 PM
what, your doppelganger appearing?
i don't know if you got the 1 "guaranteed" appearance after finishing Chains (I know it bugged out for Alex as well) where he's supposed to always spawn near the nav panel
but after that, it's random every time you load into the landing craft
probably 5% chance or so by my estimation
and he can pretty much appear in a bunch of locations after the first one
Taylor Swift 15-Jun-18 08:40 PM
Is it just a flavor thing or
Prude 15-Jun-18 08:41 PM
I mean, so far there's no real mechanical element, it's just supposed to be a manifestation of The Man in the Wall after the whole chains thing
also why I don't think he's necessarily malevolent towards us - he could probably get us if he wanted to
i guess mainly it's just supposed to be a spooky little thing here and there
you'll recall at the end of the war within he also spoke to you as well, also using the term "kiddo" then (edited)
so he evidently had his eyes on us for a long while
Taylor Swift 15-Jun-18 08:43 PM
Whomst
The fuck is the man in the wall
Prude 15-Jun-18 08:43 PM
to our understanding, he's somehow related to the void
we don't really know a lot about the void still
since the tenno's memories there are kind of foggy
The Man in The Wall (otherwise known as the "The Lidless Eye" and "The Indifference" by the Red Veil) is a mysterious being associated with the Void. First appearing during The War Within, it has...
I hadn't retained everything from chains myself, so this was a good refresher for me
Taylor Swift 15-Jun-18 08:47 PM
Yeah id forgotten all about it
Prude 15-Jun-18 09:00 PM
time till tennocon
i'm guessing that's when all will be revealed!!!!
they sold out of all of the physical tickets like a month ago or something too
i dunno how big the venue is/how many people they can fit but it's still kind of impressive
i'm guessing the tenno live segment is when the big news comes up
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 09:14 PM
Are digital tickets still available? Those give you a Baro session where he sells everything
Prude 15-Jun-18 09:15 PM
yeah those are still available
i don't think they can sell out of them
and i think they said they'd be on sale till the day of
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 09:17 PM
I'm also curious about that earlier point of umbra polarities, since you can forma them off your Excal and that's a 1 way thing
Mez 15-Jun-18 09:45 PM
I was hoping for more void/man in the wall stuff from the sacrifice
Cuz I loved it in chains
Prude 15-Jun-18 09:46 PM
I think the two biggest sort of hanging plot threads besides the one currently in the focus would def be The Man in the Wall, and the Unum/Onkko/The Quills
Maybe they'll be driving the side quests while whatever happens in Tau is the main questline or something, who knows
TMitW is definitely not going to be left alone though, he'll be of some significance given he's already been in some quests and built up
I'm HOPING the nature of the quills gets a dedicated quest eventually
because Onkko's weird implied multiverse/time travel shit sounds like a big deal
an individual (or many, or maybe just many copies of one guy across the multiverse) being able to see all possible futures and shit sounds a bit too useful and mysterious to ignore
Mez 15-Jun-18 10:52 PM
the quills are cool but I can’t be assed to grind the rep
It’s not run
Fun
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 10:56 PM
MitW is the void right? or a void being?
So uhh apparently you can talk to MitW post-sacrifice when he pops up
Prude 15-Jun-18 11:00 PM
I did not notice that
I'll have to keep that in mind
maybe that's why he didn't vanish when he appeared for me earlier
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 11:01 PM
you'll get a prompt apparently, this is all coming from goonclan chat
Prude 15-Jun-18 11:01 PM
OH WHAT THE FUCK
IT JUST HAPPENED
NIGGA WHAT
I tab back into game
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 11:01 PM
hey kiddo
Prude 15-Jun-18 11:01 PM
and he's already conversing with me
something like "what are you up to kiddo"
and my operator said "I killed him... Isiaah"
and he's like "is that how it happened?"
my operator said "yes."
and he said "good." and evaporated
WHAT THE FUCK
THIS RIDE ISN'T OVER BOYS
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 11:03 PM
We back to spoilers bois smugpepe
Prude 15-Jun-18 11:03 PM
So he clearly has an agenda in making the operator sort of take on umbra's memories as his own? (edited)
which tbh ordis did kinda warn against something to that effect
and i did think during the quest that the operator was sort of taking the whole thing a little... personally?
Taylor Swift 15-Jun-18 11:05 PM
Yeah
That just happened to me
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 11:05 PM
I wonder if we'll utilize MitW (if he's voidyboi) to get to the Tau system
Prude 15-Jun-18 11:05 PM
and it's the newest post on r/warframe
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 11:05 PM
will he pop up if you're just staying in the ship?
Prude 15-Jun-18 11:05 PM
I think this might be scripted to happen NOW
I think DE might be pullin' one on us
no sound on the clip but you can see the subtitles
Taylor Swift 15-Jun-18 11:07 PM
Yeah literally JUST happened
Prude 15-Jun-18 11:08 PM
I feel like they basically put in "at this time, start this scripted event, and give it a high chance to occur, and have that chance roll until everyone experiences it"
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 11:08 PM
tfw no kiddo negative
Prude 15-Jun-18 11:08 PM
because it's VERY suspect that we'd all just see it now
and I didn't hear a fucking thing about it last night
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 11:09 PM
Maybe
it's X time after you complete the quest
Maybe everyone who completed it when it came out is getting it now
Prude 15-Jun-18 11:09 PM
I wish I had paid more attention to the what I expected was a bug appearance earlier
I wonder if something happened then and I missed it
also it should be noted this most recent appearance for me happened after coming back from the shower
I had not extracted/logged in
so my ship wasn't refreshed
it's like the game monitored for activity and did it when i had switched back to that screen and left my armory
There's implications that the more in tune with our powers we get, the stronger the MitW becomes
so the wiki suggested our powerup in TWW actually is what caused him to become strong enough to drive Rell insane
and then Rell no longer was holding him at bay, so now he's every operator's problem
gotta keep my eyes open in the coming days
if they scripted one interaction with him, maybe more will come
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 11:17 PM
Maybe it'll be an ARG type of thing towards the next quest
Prude 15-Jun-18 11:17 PM
god yes 🙏

whole lotta maybes from me
Prude 15-Jun-18 11:17 PM
an ARG in this universe would be my fuckin jam
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 11:18 PM
I'll check tomorrow morning and see if he pops up for me immediately
if so it could be a timegated thing
Because you guys probably completed Sacrifice around this time last night correct?
Prude 15-Jun-18 11:20 PM
yeah, I think we all sort of started it as soon as we got in from the update
there was one mention of it about an hour earlier on the reddit but that sounds about right
because I was not probably amongst the first to finish the update and start (even if I did it as soon as I could)
and I had also stopped for food before finishing
and did have to replay one mission because of the bug alex and I got
so that all adding up with me not really being one to speedrun lore missions
I could see the earliest people finishing about an hour before me
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 11:24 PM
I finished a couple hours from now so if it was say a 24 hour timer I'd be off by a couple
Prude 15-Jun-18 11:27 PM
neg
f-fucking nooooooo neg
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 11:32 PM
Vor team up when
Prude 15-Jun-18 11:33 PM
the actual endgame is us using the power of friendship to band together with the grineer and corpus to defeat the sentients once and for all
we can all ride infested mounts
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 11:35 PM
A 💯 event would be cooperation with the grineer and corpus like in the Gravidus dilemma where we plow through the Tau system when it first comes out
Prude 15-Jun-18 11:35 PM
it'd make sense, common enemies and shit
the sentient may have been justified in the original motivation but they seem rather genocidal these days
We've already had partnerships with characters like Alad out of convenience
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 11:36 PM
Not even that, they see riches/loot/land in the Tau system and go manifest destiny on it
Or we cooperate with them for sort of FTL way to get there
Prude 15-Jun-18 11:37 PM
Huh, this thread raises a good point
Kuva is required to build Umbra
Kuva is noted as being necessary for the Orokin continuity shit
So as to say, the Umbra we build isn't just an identical clone of the original (a la the classic teleporter dilemma), but rather perhaps had its essence maintained from its original life
not that I suspected it was a "copy," since we do use all the original parts, but that typically death and revival begs the question of whether the revived individual is really the same as the one that died
and Kuva in the lore seems like it's specifically there to kind of address the issue of consciousness continuity
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 11:39 PM
A few more people are posting the encounter with wallman. I'm more confident on that time gate thing
Prude 15-Jun-18 11:39 PM
It'd make sense
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 11:40 PM
Now I wonder if there will be more story to come
Or a slightly longer epilogue to come
Prude 15-Jun-18 11:40 PM
THE SACRIFICE: PART 2
if I logged on and that kind of shit smacked me, I'd not know what to do with myself
I doubt it'd go that far
but I guess DE by merit on the way they constantly sort of evolve the game and have surprised the community so many times already
sort of have that kind of "they could maybe do just about anything" mystique to their big releases like this
Bear in the Woods 15-Jun-18 11:42 PM
At the very least they may elaborate more on Wally
Get some more backstory
Bear in the Woods 16-Jun-18 06:32 AM
Logged in, immediately got the convo
Prude 16-Jun-18 10:15 AM
It has to be gated by time I'd imagine
It's all too specific

"“You did better than I thought you would,” it was Ballas, the man, not the projection. “It would seem nobody truly knows they want a thing until you threaten to take it away.” He broke into a smile, “Wouldn’t you agree, Archimedian?”"

I wonder if there'll be anything after TMitW's appearance yesterday
Prude 16-Jun-18 11:27 PM
i hope so!!!
also you know what umbra reminded me of w/ his fractured helmet look
fucking ludwig!!!
ludwig's aesthetic is kind of "infested" and specifically umbra's exposed human eye amongst sort of distorted flesh and shit
also the whole narrative of a pro swordsman sort of reduced to a beast, and then revealing themselves still capable of composure when prompted (edited)
Prude 18-Jun-18 02:34 PM
man
they've been playing at Ballas' plot for a long time
beyond that detron crewman shit where he used the corpus archmidean dude to sell the idea of the sentients to the other big wig orokin
there's also the mirage trailer
If you like this video, please show your support by subscribing to our channel : https://www.youtube.com/user/PlayscopeTrailers You can follow us also on soc...
wherein he is now, in retrospect, pretty explicitly referring to Mirage's process of being turned into a warframe
also goes to say that Mirage is, in the lore, one of the most badass frames (or series of frames)
the first one who was infected a la umbra, presumably, as spoken of in this trailer was laughing at him all along and in some way subverted some of his plan
and the one in the Hidden Messages quest wherein you're recovering memories of either the frame or its operator
"I see the Sentients crashing down on her, dying in overwhelming numbers. Now she's out of energy, I'm telling her to go but she's laughing, tearing their heads off as they swarm."
all of the prime trailers basically have some degree of the history of the frames which makes more sense now
the Banshee prime trailer has him talking about how the frames must be more individual and unique than the generic grineer the orokin used as a tool before them
Fight poison with poison with the deadly nectar of Saryn Prime. Visit warframe.com/Prime-Access for full info on Saryn Prime Access.
or the saryn prime one for example
now we can for certain say the usage of "germinated" isn't just flowery language
but rather saryn was creating through the process of infestation as well
and the idea of fighting poison with poison is now referring to more than just her ability set
also that one is interesting because we know Marghulis worked on earth at some point in the process of trying to restore it, as mentioned in Titania's quest
I also think Saryn might actually be somewhat based on her - Saryn Prime has the most "Lotus-like" body of any warframe and I feel like we've always assumed Lotus shaped herself like Marghulis
it would make sense, considering Ballas' motivations
the Nekros trailer alludes to the orokin elite being undying - given what we know about how they supposedly hid away their oro or some shit like a phylactery, even if Ballas died at the end of the Sacrifice, he may return anyhow
granted, I feel like somewhere in the lore it was also explained that the Tenno being what they are proved capable of permanently killing those orokin
so maybe not
Prude 19-Jun-18 05:37 PM
"Upon dying, sentience Umbra will now become stand-still instead of forcing Transference. This also fixes returning to Umbra from Operator resulting in death."
"Tweaked Umbra’s Radial Howl animation to have a very similar cast time and FX to Excalibur’s Radial Blind."
"Fixed Clients teleporting to Umbra's position instead of the other way around when Transferring back into their Warframe."
good fixes for umbra all around!!
"Fixed ‘Hey Kiddo’ lingering in your ship."
I guess the one where he wouldn't leave was actually a bug
and wasn't related to the new lines

Prude 21-Jun-18 07:19 PM
joke aside, this line in TSD is weird now
because Ballas and Hunhow clearly had some communication in the past
and Hunhow should know at least some warframes do have a kind of "self" however marginalized it is
unless Ballas didn't relay everything to Hunhow
which seems in character, so as to not show all his cards to his ally of convenience or w/e
also that scene in TSD supports that at least whatever warframe we were using then does have a bit of autonomy kinda like umbra
which didn't occur to me looking back, but now the reason it self-animated and shattered the sword is unambiguous
that might've been as much as non-umbras can muster but clearly it indicates both hints of remaining consciousness as well as perhaps some kind of attachment to the operator's survival that they'd act then
which is nice because the sacrifice did make a big point about how the tenno are best able to understand the struggles of those trapped in the frames, so presumably there was some at least subconscious pair bonding shit there
though it also begs the question of how much the operators even knew about the frames pre-umbra
the opening of the helminth door must have raised some questions, as well as that TSD scene, so I think maybe we (the audience/players) may have been more out of the loop than our avatar, even if umbra's degree of sentience was more than the op expected
Prude 21-Jun-18 07:43 PM
an optimistic mommy theory
Bear in the Woods 21-Jun-18 10:19 PM
I don't think the non-Umbra Warframes have as much sentience as the former. If I recall the sentience was built into them pre-Transference when they needed some sort of autonomy. Once they realized the Tenno could control them the Primes/vanilla frames were baked in mass production and without the anger/rage that Umbra Excal was forced with
Prude 22-Jun-18 08:33 AM
Yet we do know they are still at some level conscious regardless of design intent
Otherwise I don't think the TDS thing would be possible

this stupid little exchange on reddit (because I was trying to figure out what was actually said in the The New War trailer) kind of excited me further for where the story could go
with time to reflect on it, the community is actually forming many divergent opinions on what we should do about the lotus
i hope this is played with somehow
like the perspective that she did what she had to in order for us to be maximally safe vs. the more cynical it was always so we could be her personal army type shit
and the desire to return her as an ally vs. killing her or whatever
because it seems like one of those subjects in the ongoing story that people will be very divided on, which I think is a good thing
Prude 09-Jul-18 06:21 AM

Prude 09-Jul-18 08:56 AM
during the second dream when Alad is helping us out
it's the part where she reveals she had kept the moon hidden away in the void or w/e
Prude 09-Jul-18 11:23 AM
so lore stuff and the warframe comic they have going or w/e suggests that the Fortuna slaves have mechanical heads because their real ones are off site being held as collateral (edited)
and I guess their consciousness is just being piped in or some shit
the whole intro song for that place gets darker the more you analyze it, lol
Taylor Swift 09-Jul-18 11:24 AM
eyepop
Thats dark!
Prude 09-Jul-18 11:25 AM
also fun thing i didn't notice about the song at first - the lights on the slaves light up to the words
further kind of showing their mechanical nature
they have no actual mouth
and even the small child in the intro has what appears to be a fake neck, and his face doesn't look totally real - like the young ones just get a more realistic false visage
but it's still artificial too
Warframe has a lot of body horror in it that isn't like
really in your face until you're deep into the story
then you get umbra and the rest of the frames, these new slaves, shit like the fucked up grineer bodies if you start paying attention
and I guess the infested are the first really obvious case, since you can see what a lot of them are made out of
Prude 09-Jul-18 09:49 PM
Prude 18-Jul-18 08:14 PM
In retrospect
Contrary to the initial speculation during the prologue that ballas brainwashed lotus or w/e with his shit
I think it's not a stretch to think that those cords and shit she was hooked up to were keeping her docile
Maybe she didn't really infiltrate the orokin at all, maybe she was captured (whether that be before or after she prompted the slaughter of the nobility via the tenno)
The only loose end there is the second dream scene where she appears disconnected as well (edited)
But there could be a lot of ways to handwave though in a universe where shit like transference machines exist
Like it could've even been a second body she was wirelessly "piloting"
The spitefulness in The New War trailer sort of makes me drift this way
The tenno didn't exploit her, but the orokin may have (even if she already took from them in return)
But as a general "reclaiming lost glory" type deal, grandma's dialogue could still be referring to the orokin rather than the tenno. The conflict with us will be incidental to that whole exchange if so, mostly based upon us likely getting in the way
Her arc does seem almost like a mirror of ours - coming back out of a sedated "dream" again to be one's real self
And it's interesting her sort of "awakening" happens just as we've sort of reached a point of relative independence, after several quests of realizing deceit comes naturally to her and she isn't a perfect guardian nor someone we ultimately need anymore, so the tenno had grown more rebellious
