So with your free car / tracks you start off in the rookie series - participate in a couple races avoiding wrecks and you'll quickly get the next license, D. From there on you can decide what next series you'll wanna get into, at which point you spend actual money buying cars/tracks you want/need. Yeah there's people having spent a thousand or so just because they want everything.

That's sim racing for you, people with more money than sense

It's actually possible, if you're interrested in a higher class series, to skip one class by getting your safety rating high enough that you can take part in the series with a lower class

I feel so much more than with the default ffb setting

Basically you have a program apply increasing amounts of force on the wheel, let it free wheel and record at what point it stops spinning
