its early access (I know) but the dev takes his time and releases good, solid, well fleshed out and LARGE updates twice a year or so that drastically alter the game in good ways every time

so im playin a tri-tachyon run
lost most of my fleet to some BULLSHIT
ansyway i clawed my way back up, got 3 medusa-class destroyers
and im flyin around murkin pirates and hegemony mans
well i see one of my factions patrols being chased down by a hegemony patrol, im running dark in hyperspace because fuck broadcasting to everyone where you are while you're in BFE right
so the hegemony doesnt like people rolling without IFF transponders on, it's illegal and shady and blah blah so they intercept me (i sat and waited for them) and they bitch at me about my IFF being off, order me to turn it on
"sure thing, chief"
i turn it on, they immediately "oh shit", cut comms and power up weapons lmao

my fleet so far. an aurora light cruiser, 3 medusa destroyers, a sunder destroyer, and two wolf class frigates
my flagship is one of the medusas, i have two pulse lasers on the center turrets, point defense lasers on the rear flanks and aft, two longer range tactical beam lasers in the front turrets, and two antimatter blasters on the hardpoints
its great at killing anything up to cruisers...i was able to take out an advanced carrier but it was a little dicey....they can almost soak up more punishment with the shields than i can actually inflict, so it was a slow earing down, in the meantime i had to dodge fighter wings and AI drones plinking at me the whole time
it absolutely smokes frigates/fighters, destroyers dont last long 1v1 and cruisers dont fare so well either but i do have to be careful with the medusa...theyre kind of expensive/rare (im surprised i found 3) and its easy to get overwhelmed and surrounded if you arent careful with the phase skimmer
i really want a tempest frigate, two medium energy mounts and a missile hardpoint, spec it for speed and you can outrun strike craft, missiles, and dodge energy bolts, plus it has a respawning AI drone to cover you

For Recreational Drugs (the purple syringes, fourth row from the bottom), we can tell that two units are being produced locally (bright icons), but that demand is being met by importing 3 units (1 dim icon, and also a crest of the faction the drugs are coming from on the left, in this case also the Hegemony). The red outline around the crest tells us that it’s a smuggling operation, the three dim red-outlined syringes tell us there’s a lot of unmet demand (and so higher prices), and the lack of a faction crest on the right tells us Jangala is not exporting any drugs.

@here so i managed to save up about 1.5 million and a pretty decent Fleet
and so I took over the pirate base in the Askonia system
from there I was able to Branch out kill more pirate bases and now I have a sort of semi Empire it's pretty chill
this is all using the nexerelin mod

if i do though i'll have two bigass markets that sell high tech ships, and i'll be able to really go hard on stability so bigger + better ships, i really want a brand new astral class (my current one is a D-Class so its kinda shitty)
still being able to shit out 6 wings of fighters is lit
rocket bomber + heavy interceptor combo = dead anything (with proper destroyer support, but fighters do a shitload of damage if you can keep the bigger ship occupied)

early game is slowish
what you have to do is exploit shortages and raid Pirates scavengers and do easier Bounty missions rather than trying to legitimate trade
very few trade goods are going to be available cheap enough and convenient enough to where you can just ship them around and make money
so you're going to want to take either easy procurement missions like get 200 fuel or whatever and hope there's a good bonus on it or you can start hunting down Pirates and stuff once you get three or four ships in your fleet
sensor scans are also useful will send you to some Backwater system and you can dodge drones Pirates and black holes and shit then you can just run a sensor scan on a drone and then get the fuck out and you get 10000 credits or whatever the hell they give you and hopefully you don't have any repair bills or lost ships and your supplies aren't getting drained to the point where you're actually running at a loss

No idea, my current cruiser has two frontal arc graviton lances for steady DPS and two heavy needlers in an attempt to overload the shields, but the frigates keep fucking me up
They flit in, soak enough damage to almost overload, then flit out and dump flux
Like, as soon as I can close to <600 range the AI cruiser just dunks on them, but pinning them down is the hardest part
And missiles are shit, the enemy doesn't seem to ever run out, but my guys dump thier load in like 3 seconds into the first engagement
So I end up chasing shit all over the area until the AI gives up and leaves, or the shitty little frigate gets unlucky and it's engines get knocked out

click and drag in the top down tactical map to select, or ctrl-click individual ships
or shift click i forget
and you can have your carrier park on a nav buoy or w/e
tactical map is real nice because you can have a pack of frigates cut around the side of a fleet and btfo carriers from behind, and also spook the AI into retaliating with ships that can't really catch the frigates so your main ships have less to deal with
as opposed to just "throw everyhting into the fray all at once" schools of thought
hammer and anvil tactics work, esp with ships like the hammerhead/sunder that have garbo shield coverage from behind, so if you can pin em down and force them to stay focused on the big angry cruiser they'll ignore the frigate sneakin around the back loaded with antimatter blasters (edited)

maulers are beastly but only work if shields are down
so thats a great combo IF you can keep the shields down
dust the armor with impunity while you spray EMP hell all over the hull
so with that setup have another ship nearby thats just dumping bullets and sabot missiles into it

you're not gonna be chasing shit down in a cruiser unless you get an aurora or something real snazzy
falcons/eagles are line cruisers, they take and hold ground but are shit for pursuit
