Infobox Chinese-language singer and actor may be used to summarize information about a Chinese language actor and/or singer. Many in the Chinese entertainment industry are popular both as actors and as singers. This template provides information for both a person's acting and singing career. It also lists awards specific to the Chinese entertainment industry, such as the Hong Kong Film Awards and the Golden Horse Awards.

Usage

The infobox may be added by pasting the template as shown below into an article. All fields are optional and unused parameter names can be left blank or omitted.

Parameters

Please remove the award parameters if they are left blank.

Parameter Explanation
name Insert English name of person. Use the common name, typically name of article, if multiple names are used. If omitted or blank it defaults to the name of the article. Please do not add Cantonese-language name suffixes (e.g. Andy Lau Tak-wah) here.
gender Insert gender of person, fill female or male in this field.
Note: For actor and/or singers, using this field will also change the background color to shades of pink (female) or shades of blue (male), see below to learn more.
image Insert image name. Use only the file name such as abc.jpg, xyz.png, 123.gif, etc. Do not use syntax such as [[File:abc.jpg]] or [[File:abc.jpg|200px]]. By default it is set at 220px.
image_size Use this field to readjust the size of the image to custom size. The "px" needs to be specified like "image_size = 120px". If this field is in the article without a size listed, it will take the full size of the image.

Background color

The infobox color is key-coded to provide a quick indication of the type of group/performer, e.g. solo artist, orchestra, etc. This is similar to the color schemes used by WikiProject Albums and other projects. Please discuss additional types that need to be accounted for on the template's talk page.

The user doesn't choose the colors directly, rather the code provided in the background field identifies the type of performer. The possible background colors, with the corresponding names, are indicated on the bars in the table below.

Microformat

The HTML markup produced by this template includes an hCard microformat, which makes the person's details parsable by computers, either acting automatically to catalogue articles across Wikipedia or via a browser tool operated by a reader, to (for example) add the subject to an address book or database. For more information about the use of microformats on Wikipedia, please see the microformat project.

Sub-templates

Date-of-birth ("bday") information will only be included in the microformat if {{birth date}}, or {{birth date and age}} are used in the infobox. (Do not use these if the date is before 1583). Be cautious about using these if the person is still living, per WP:DOB.

To include a URL, use {{URL}}.

Please do not remove instances of these sub-templates.

Classes

hCard uses HTML classes including:

  • adr
