This version of the flag, with the lion bringing a sword upward and a large golden crown above the four coats of arms of medieval Italian maritime republics Venice (the winged lion), Genoa (the red cross on white background), Pisa (stylized white cross on red background), and Amalfi (stylized white star on blue background), is used by the Italian military navy ↑.
