Parameters
- name
- The name under which the academic is best known. This should usually be the same as the article name, and will default to
{{PAGENAME}}
if not specified.
- image
- Image. Use the name of the image file only, i.e. do not include "File:".
- image_size
- Width of the image. Default is
frameless
and should not normally need to be specified manually.
- alt
- Alt text for the image, for visually impaired readers. See WP:ALT. It should be specified if image is specified.
- caption
- Caption for image, if necessary; if the image is simply a headshot of the subject, a caption restating the subject's name is unnecessary
- honorific_prefix
- See MOS:HONOURIFIC
- honorific_suffix
- native_name
- Name of the person in his or her native language, if not English and only if different from the name given in the article title, the lead sentence, and the
|name=
parameter
- native_name_lang
- The subject's native language, preferably as evidenced by his/ her publications, if not English
- birth_name
- Subjects name at birth;only specify if different from the

Microformat
The HTML markup produced by this template includes an hCard microformat, which makes the person's details parsable by computers, either acting automatically to catalogue articles across Wikipedia or via a browser tool operated by a reader, to (for example) add the subject to an address book or database. Sub-templates
Date-of-birth ("bday") information will only be included in the microformat if {{birth date}}, or {{birth date and age}} are used in the infobox. (Do not use these if the date is before 1583). Be cautious about using these if the person is still living, per WP:DOB.
