The Christmas Day Massacre was an attack by the one-off clan of GMFORD against GAY who, because of Taylors frequent raiding, was seen as the primary antagonists of the server.
Tay's One Man Raids
As was his reputation on Rusty Bottoms, Taylor was infamous for being able to raid bases with minimal resources just by exploiting the games mechanics such as build coverage or by using his uncanny ability to discern a bases layout just from looking at the outside. As such, he raided many of the bases on the server, including Jacks, albeit on accident. This angered CalWorthington, who immediately called to arms many of the other Bimmers who were also playing on the server during the hiatus. In a nearby valley from the GAY complex, GMFORD built an large DREADFORT type tower, that Taylor also raided. However, despite his best attempts at stealth, just before breaching the loot room, Taylor was discovered and Cal teleported most of the explosives out.
GMFORDS Attack
The attack itself had some forewarning, so was not complete surprise. However, as was typical over the past few months, Taylor's dogwater internet was on the fritz, causing his ping to spike ingame as high as 1500ms. The only other GAYs online at the time were Peaches, a reliable player but not the best fighter, Gmach, a capable fighter, but arrived late and was never able to adequality gear up, and another unknown GAY, who was completely useless the entire fight. With GAYS ace unable to effectively fight because of internet issues and no reliable second in command, GMFORD easily moved through the compound, killing all the GAYs.
Aftermath
Taylor, obviously and rightfully upset to have lost to nothing more than a technical issue out of his control, rage quit the server, as did many of the other GAYs. GMFORD, who felt they had achieved their goals, also quit. This killed off a sizeable portion of the hiatus players from BMW who were active on the server, and had a snowball effect leading to many others to cease playing, once again bringing THUNDERDOMES population to near zero.
Just over a week later, after the New Year, BMW reformed from its hiatus, reuniting the factions.
