Gmach Syndrome is a phenomena within The WIDEVERSE characterized by someone fiercely loyal to the community, who then for whatever reason, decides to leave, usually in some form of disgrace, who then returns completely changed, separated emotionally from the culture. Suffers are in worst case scenarios, poison to the community and the culture.

It is named after its most notable example, Gmach, who despite being Taylor's right hand man for much of the Rust sage during a Golden Age of BMW, left after the BEEFY Troubles, only to return months later as an ironic caricature of himself.

The syndrome is not exclusive to people who have outright left, but also to people who have just drifted very far, in the example of Orkledorkle.
