DETROIT
DETROIT refers to a base building concept in games by BMW, specifically in Rust, of building a giant compound of independent buildings and structures versus one giant singular building.
Name Origin
DETROIT originally got its name from a collection of Goon bases on the Legacy Rust map in the Resource Hole region. The area was tightly packed with poorly built collapsing buildings and filled with black zombies, resulting in the name of DETROIT.
OG DETROIT
The original DETROIT rose during Legacy Rust in the Resource Hole region. It was a loosely affiliated city of Goon bases before the rise of the bigger clans.
Goon Playground Detroit
Two DETROITs existed on Goon Playground, though the latter being much more notable. The first was a small collection of shacks in the eastern map on the edge of a lake that included the infamous "Art Gallery". It was raided then abandoned, forcing DETROIT to move to the western side of the island, focused around the satellite and a small rad town. GM took it upon themselves to build and oversee the city, building their first DREADFORT in the area. GAY would eventually settle in the city next to GM in their GAYVENGERS TOWER, as well as TESLA, a small admin clan of Shadowgate and Bishyaler. The city persisted, despite individual raids against the DREADFORT and GAYVENGERS Tower by FORD, until the end of the map in late May of 2015
1st BMW DETROIT
In 2016 on NewBoondockOxide, as the metagame of Rust began to shift, the massive sprawling DREADFORT complexes of BMW were becoming obsolete. In adherence to the new "Security Through Obscurity" doctrine, DETROIT was revived in the form of a sprawling island town filled with walls, traps, shitshacks, and landmines that served to deter even the most dedicated invaders. The change in philosophy was a resounding successs, with rival clans such as 306 completely unable to ever find BMWs base, save for when Ozmiander revealed it in a drunken tirade in chat, much to Taylor Swift's chagrin.
2nd BMW DETROIT
Again on Boondock, DETROIT was founded on an island, though a much larger island that had larger open areas, though still filled with completely useless skyscrappers. Due to Boondocks failing hardware, however, DETROIT was never fully realized as BMW abandoned the server.
